Catton Hall
Midland Conservation constructed a new terrace and steps with balustrade, and an existing window opening was altered to allow installation of a new glazed door.
Foundations were laid and blockwork and concrete substructure formed. Stone treads and risers were worked in Stanton Moor sandstone and fixed onsite using lime mortar and stainless steel fixings. The new metal balustrade was produced by a subcontractor specialising in decorative metalwork. The design replicates existing balustrading elsewhere at Catton Hall.
Further works were instructed during the contract period, these included extending the grassed area in front of the building and forming a second set of steps in the bank.
