St James Church, Alveston

Works were undertaken to restore the external fabric of the tower. Substantial areas of blue lias walling stone to the tower were dismantled and replaced in new coursed stone.

All new stone was bedded on and pointed in lime mortar. The rendered window surrounds and buttress heads were repaired and large areas were replaced in lime render.

Works were also carried out to other areas of the church. Rainwater goods were refurbished, and new underground drainage system installed. Bird protection was installed to openings in the tower and missing or damaged louvers replaced.  A new lightning protection system was installed.
